Orla Mc Donagh Artist
Body of work
The Chaste Skinhead
My work takes inspiration from the ordinary, the people and the places we occupy. Based in the midlands I work in a diverse practice, painting, drawing and constructing work in ceramics and textiles. I have worked in commercial art and facilitation in a range of settings with community art central to my practice.
My current body of work has been informed by those years of working in the creative industries. The collection portrays the gendered ideals expected in society. Where I invite the viewer to examine why and how we continue to assume these gendered stereotypes through standards of beauty, clothing and mannerisms, and question if we are corrupting the next generation through this continued acceptance of contrived gender ideals.
A selection of Ink Drawings; consisting mainly of local architecture around Ireland. Ink drawings can be comissioned.
